Outdoor decks are a valuable part of our Australian lifestyle. Most commonly made of hardwood or treated pine, we also now have the option of magnesium oxide decking, or composite decking made from recycled plastic and timber or bamboo waste.   If choosing hardwood we recommend Australian grown (less carbon miles), sustainable sourced ( FSC certified) timber. The following species are the most long lasting in full exterior exposure.

  • Tallowwood
  • White Mahogany
  • Ironbark
  • Grey Gum
  • Turpentine
  • Covered decks can also use Spotted Gum
Composite decking is made from recycled plastic and waste product that would otherwise be dumped on our environment. A great invention and very low maintenance as it won't rot and doesn't require any finishing treatment. Magnesium oxide is a low carbon cement type product that creates an extremely durable, fire resistant and long lasting decking material, that can be stained to look like timber, or clear coated to retain its natural grey look.
